Marjorie Prime
by Jordan Harrison
The Cherry Artspace
September 29 - 30 & October 5-7
A nominee for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize, Jordan Harrison’s ‘Marjorie Prime’ examines aging, memory and the perpetuity of life through the lens of artificial intelligence. Around the year 2050 advanced holograms of the deceased are available as “Primes”. Arriving as blank slates, these avatars learn to remember the life of their corresponding human by stories told to them by surviving family. Sleek but bursting with emotion, this play asks fundamental questions of a 2023 audience about what comprises a human being.
